Happy Birthday Boys!

Last weekend we had the boys first birthday party. Cute balloons and banners. Lots of food and a big train cake. 3 different salads, a couple Subways subs, tons of soda and water. There were 3 little cakes for the boys and it was at a park so all the kiddos could keep busy playing. Sounds perfect right? But where were the boys? They were sleeping.
Poor little guys had a gotten a little virus a few days beforehand and it really took a toll on them. Luke was with us for almost half of the party, being passed from Aunt Judy to Gina, myself, my mom and my dad. He just hung out quietly taking in all the faces and sounds. Wyatt was awake for about an hour or so, mostly hanging out with Melissa, trying out some new foods (heehee). Jaxon was down for the count... this little baby was like a heater, he was so warm and he slept all the way until clean up time. Luckily, he woke up in time for some 4 generation photos with Don's side. We had brought along the boys little choo choo wagon. I think the kids played more with the wagon then they did in the playground. Sometimes there would be 2 kids in a seat! The little guests got to take home loot bags with disguise glasses, bubbles, jump ropes, monkey tattoos, little beach balls and pin wheels.
Unfortunately, the boys didn't do the big first birthday cake. We had 3 little cakes, but they melted and the boys were in no shape to eat anything other than toast and bananas anyhow. We plan on bringing them back to the park maybe next weekend and let them at it on a sheet out there. It feels naked that we are not posting any pictures of them digging into their first birthday cake. We had a really great time and are thankful for everyone who took the time to come celebrate with us. It meant a lot to us to know our boys have such a large extended "family". Thank you all for making it such a wonderful day!

Good Morning!

The boys woke from their nap today in a pretty good mood so we took a cute video of them coming out of their room. Watch out world, here they come!

Long time no see!

Well, It has been about 2 weeks since I have last blogged. So much has happened, not even giving me time to keep you all updated. First and foremost the boys turned ONE! I can't believe it. I think I am in denial. Just doesn't seem possible that in one day, BAM they have reached a major milestone. No longer infants, the boys are now one.

Second, we have had LOTS of family out to visit. In my last post, I mentioned my nephews and nieces...Then came my husbands brother, wife and 2 kids here at our house. Then while they were here, my husband's mom and dad came out from Texas, as well as my husbands aunt, uncle, cousins and one of their families. So we have had lots of visitors, still not done though, my family is in town now. This has been AWESOME! It all went better than we could've hoped for with so many people who love our children coming together to celebrate and hang out with family.

And last but not least, we have had an awful cootie bug passed through the boys, and I mean passed. Little guys couldn't keep anything in their tiny bodies. The poor kids basically missed out on their birthday and most of the visits from family, but are doing a bit better today.

I have intentions of coming back later today or tomorrow to post some pics and elaborate a bit on everything. After all, too much has happened to let it all go by without saying.

Luke's First Steps

The title says it all. We are very proud of our little Luke to have the tenacity and sheer determination to hold his little body balanced and take 4 baby steps. He has been working towards this for weeks now, just pulling himself up to his toys, couch, or us (you get the idea) and letting go to s l o w l y sit down. We have been amazed at the muscles this guy must have in his legs to control how fast or slow he falls. He has balanced for 10 seconds at a time, working on what to do next -no rush- but just to test his own limits.

So last night, we had such a long and wonderful day and were just letting the kids get their last drops of energy out. The babies were half dressed in their pj's, crawling all over the living room and playing with their toys and us. Luke is attached to a wipe, crawling around with it in his mouth, drops it and picks it up with his mouth and pulls himself up to the love seat. Turns towards Don and I and takes his first little steps! Good Job Lukey, we love you little guy!

Family Visit

We've had my 2 nephews and 1 niece in town this past week or so, and it has been great! They haven't seen the babies since the babies were less than 3 months old and about as fun as a bump on a log. This time, the kids are all interacting together. Cathryn (6) read them a book yesterday and loves to hold them while they have their bottle.
Matthew (is only 3) was not so sure, being he was the baby until they came along, and poor guy -there are lots of "the babies" rules..example, "shhh, not so loud, the babies are sleeping", "Matthew, not so rough, they are babies", you get the idea. So we have been making extra sure he has been getting lots of fun cuddles and time to play without babies and finally he warmed up to them yesterday. He wanted to hold on to their stroller yesterday when we were going out to dinner, and has actually shared his toys with them.

Michael (11) has been hanging out with us a lot. He's a huge help around here. Loves to play with the boys, let them wear his hat, helps to watch them while Don and I cook or clean. Yesterday Michael and I took them to the mall, fed them at the food court and walked around with them for a couple hours while Don got his ankle checked out at the drs office.
We had a good time, and Michael is so protective about people asking about the kids. No one will come between him and his cousins!

Last night we went to the GVR buffet, turned out to be a early Mothers day dinner with Don, myself our kids, my mom, Matthew and Michael. We had a nice time, the food was great and all 5 kids behaved beautifully. It was truly a perfect family dinner so we took some pictures, including one of the floor. This was just what Jaxon left!

Babyproof?

(l-r) Luke, Wyatt and Jaxon
Why is it that they want to hit the tv? They have HUNDREDS of toys they could play with and keep occupied, but why do they find the TV and stereo so very fascinating? Is it the reaction from us? You would laugh if you saw the way Wyatt has shown his defiant side. He crawls right to the stereo, looks back at us, doesn't much care if we are watching him or not, pulls himself up to the TV and BANG BANG BANG little fat hands slapping the bottom of the tv. I will say WYATT in my stern mom voice, and he looks at me and gets down quickly. BUT by then, Jaxon or Luke heard the bangs and are quickly coming to out number us. So Wyatt looks at me, smiles and gets back up. Luke goes up and says "uh-uh-uh" because he knows that is what we say when we see them do it. It is hilarious, but makes us concerned about what's ahead. They know they have power in numbers. But we put our heads together and concocted a contraption out of wood and plexi glass that will keep toys and hands from our tv and other electronics in the area.

An accurate video

Here is a video from another triplet mom. She has great videos, well put together so you really get the idea of what she means. It is not us, or our kids, but it a a very real look into what it is like walking around in the beginning with triplets.

Instant Celebrity

It is much better now, we don't stop for people or make eye contact much anymore. But it WAS very weird, scary and overwhelming the first few times out. Not that I am complaining (wouldn't trade my life for anything), but I am just sharing a look from the inside. One of those things you wouldn't believe if you didn't see for yourself.

Friday Playdate

Another play date today. This time Don and our nephew Michael came too. Don pushed the kids around a bit on a little tricycle and they had lots of fun crawling all over Michele's backyard. So many kids playing together but the boys just watch. Soon they will be more mobile and joining in the fun!
This is Wyatt doing a weird new thing. It is almost as if he is trying to balance on his butt only....or maybe he feels the wind???? Trying to fly?

Don was holding Wyatt and Luke. Luke saw Don patting Wyatt's back and Luke would pat Wyatts back and then lay his head on Wyatt, too.

Michael holding Jaxon.

All tired and time to go home...

Dance Luke, Dance!

This video is of Luke. His head swaying is how he dances. Too Cute!

This is Jaxon being Jaxon. He is indescribable. But very adorable...

Dinner and a show

These videos were taken last night while I was feeding the boys dinner. They always do such cute interaction, but this is the first time we got a good one on video.

Jaxon on the right, playing with Luke's hand. Listen to Jax laugh!

immediately following the first, Luke starts waving his hands and everyone copies. I love Wyatt's little laugh in this.

Wyatt Loves Jaxon

Here is a picture of Wyatt loving on Jaxon. And then Luke wanted some love, too. When this was done, Jaxon had a nice wet drooley spot on his forehead.

And here is Wyatt crawling to see me

Walk America

(L-R) Cathy and her boys, myself with our boys, and Tami with Cathy's daughter.

Well, our Walk America is over. With MANY supporters help, we raised just over $1,200. Pretty good size chunk, we think. They gave us a tee shirt, ball caps, a duffel bag and umbrella for participating and raising over a thousand dollars. The walk itself was a bit of a let down, it was only 2.5 miles, and we were done in 45 minutes.. BUT, we would like to thank all of you who helped us reach this amount, we are amazed at the way small amounts added up. Most everyone was $20 or less, with a few big ones from Don's company and our immediate family added in. Every little bit did help, so thank you all!! Many families will benefit from our teamwork.

This is the family board our friend Tami helped us make. (You can double click on pics to see them bigger)

All of us after the walk (notice the babies are tired).

Our monkeys in the car waiting for us to load up. We thought they could use a stretch out before getting buckled in again. They are enjoying their freedom!
